Local Haunts for an SLO Halloween

Halloween in SLO

Halloween is in the air! Now that we’re only two days from the big night, if you haven’t made plans to have some ghoulish fun yet, it’s time to get cracking. Here’s your guide to finding the best haunts SLO has to offer this Halloween:

For Halloween fun any time of the day head over to Cambria for the Scarecrow Festival. Hundreds of interesting and unique scarecrows are placed on display throughout the town, which makes for a great afternoon stroll for families with young children or anybody just feeling festive! Don’t delay though. This event will only be here through the end of October.

Feeling artsy? How about some thrilling theater? If you’re not on trick or treating duty this Friday, catch a live performance of the classic vampire thriller, Dracula, on stage at the Cuesta College Theater. Performances are offered Friday and Saturday evening, as well as a Sunday matinee. Get your tickets here.

For wine-lovers, First Crush Wine Cellars is where you want to be. Get spooky at their Wicked Costume Party starting at 5 pm on Halloween night, complete with a costume contest, appetizers, live music and, of course, wine. If you can’t make it on Friday, eerie fun can still be had at Saturday night’s Dia de Los Muertos Festival.

Embark in some family fun in Paso Robles on Friday, Oct. 31. Local downtown businesses will be welcoming trick or treaters between 3 pm – 6 pm. And make sure to bring your jack o’lanterns from home for the celebration’s Carved Pumpkin Contest! Awards, prizes, and fun to be had for all!

For the 21+ crowd, enjoy a killer night at Luna Red! A ticket to their ‘Howl’ event buys you an evening of hors de’vours, drinks, and live music from bands The Kicks and Green to White. Plus, a costume contest not to be rivaled.

To celebrate this wonderful time of year, we are going to share some thrilling spring events in the area that we are greatly looking forward to. As anyone who has been knows, California’s Central Coast has a lot to offer in the way of sun, surf, fun, and festivities. Now, let’s take a look at what spring 2013 has in store for us.

Wine for Paws – April 13-14

Local farmers, chefs, and winemakers group together for “Farmfest on the Coast” – they showcase sustainability and deliver farm-to-fork pairings of locally grown, harvested, and handmade foodstuffs.

On Saturday, over 20 restaurants and more than 20 wineries will present the most delectable flavors of Pismo Beach. The weekend wraps up Sunday with a lip-smacking pancake breakfast and BBQ lunch courtesy of the Pismo Beach Cities Lions Club.

Summer Fun in San Luis Obispo and North Santa Barbara County

Prudential California Realty is Central Coast’s Real Estate experts. Our first priority is you – always. It is our goal to provide you with the most innovative real estate services on the Central Coast.

It’s the second day of summer and you may already be excited to plan out fun and celebratory times for the season.

There is a lot going on in San Luis Obispo and the North Santa Barbara County area and in this post, we will tell you about some of the most exciting things for you to do. From numerous wine events, to chili cookoffs, to Fourth of July events, it was difficult narrowing the list now to a simple 5, but we hand-plucked some of what we think you might find most entertaining. Here they are:

  • Starting today is the 22nd Annual “Roll out the Barrels” Wine Weekend. This only runs until the 24th, so we recommend visiting it before it is too late. There will be 30 wineries within the San Luis Obispo Wine Country Region participating.  The weekend wine event consists of three major components: Barrels In The Plaza, Winemaker Dinners & Social Events and the popular two-day Passport to Wine Country. For more information, visit Wine Country This Week.
  • Next, let’s talk about your Fourth of July plans. What many consider to be their favorite holiday of the year is being celebrated all throughout the area. The Chamber of Commerce’s SLO Visitor website has taken the time to detail what is happening in every city in San Luis Obispo County. From bands in gazebos to food, prizes, and funs, your 2012 Fourth of July in San Luis Obispo can be memorable with just a little planning.
  • Next up is the Annual California Mid-State Fair. Where do we start on this one? Live music, rodeos, bull riding, prize farm animals, arts & crafts displays, live entertainment, carnival rides, rodeos, monster trucks, wine tasting, food and much more at this hugely popular event. Make sure you make your reservations early.
  • On a different side of fun there is the Annual Central Coast Shakespeare Festival running from July 12 until the 28th. This year they are presenting The Tempest. Their website recommends that you “grab beach chairs, blankets, family and friends, pack a picnic and enjoy live theatre under the stars!”
  • Who likes it hot? The Central Coast Chili Challenge is ready to feed you on August 12. Aside from a multitude of chili tastings and contests, there will be children’s games, arts & crafts booths, food booths, a car show, and a charity fundraiser. There are 3 parts to the event and a chance to win money, so make sure you check this one out.

Those are 5 of the many happenings we have fun at every year in the San Luis Obispo and North Santa Barbara County area every year.

Do you plan on attending any of these events? Did we miss an exciting event that you think should have made the list? Let us know in a comment.
